This area of Chianti encompasses all that Tuscany is well known for: endless rolling hills with vineyards, ancient olive groves and woodlands that stretch as far as the eye can see. Going up and down the hills in the heart of the Chianti League, passed the beautiful pre-Romanesque church of Sant'Appiano and the Medieval castle of Poppiano, you will find the villa La Ginestra di Valerio, a classic Tuscan farmhouse in the shade of cypress and olive trees.

A well-tended garden surrounds the house with plenty of shady spots for its guests to have a quiet read in a hot summer's afternoon. All apartments have a private space to dine 'al fresco' in the evening and a well equipped outdoor BBQ.
At the other end of the garden, sheltered by mature oak trees, a large swimming pool (6x15 meters) overlooks a wheat field. On one end of the swimming pool there is also a lovely fountain with sit-in Jacuzzi to make your lazy days even more pleasurable! Cotto pots with colorful geraniums add charm to this pretty garden making it the ideal place to relax and unwind.
La Ginestra has been recently renovated to the highest standards and divided into three comfortable apartments, named after local flowers. The spacious and airy rooms with terracotta floors and vaulted ceilings combine to create the perfect atmosphere to relax and enjoy this glorious countryside. All three apartments are very different in terms of its architectural features and this makes them unique. Privacy and tranquility are also guaranteed at the villa since it can only accommodate a maximum of fifteen people and therefore it can never be crowded!
La Ginestra is on two levels.
Begonia apartment (sleeps 4+2 -110 sqm) is on the ground floor and is the largest of all. There are three entrances to the apartment. Two are into the huge lounge, the centerpiece of the apartment, through French doors that overlook the garden. Its beautiful original vaulted ceilings combined with cotto floors give this apartment a typical rustic feel yet very elegant with its carefully chosen furniture.
A large arch opens up into the dining room that then leads to a well-equipped kitchen. There are also one twin and one double bedroom with two bathrooms with shower (one equipped for disabled). In the lounge there is also a double sofa bed. This apartment is so spacious that it comfortably accommodates 6 people.
On the first floor, other two apartments share the external stairs but have two independent entrances.
Camelia apartment (sleeps 4+2 - 60 sqm) has a spacious dining room with kitchenette made of solid wood and marble, a living room with double sofa bed, one double room, one twin bedroom, and a bathroom with shower. In this apartment all the original features of the house have been carefully maintained, paying particular attention to all the details, such as pre-existing brick or stone arches in the house.
Dalia apartment (sleeps 2+2 - 50 sqm) is also on the first floor. Because of its exceptionally high ceilings, the owners have been very clever in using the spaces in the most interesting way. The main room of the apartment is a living room with extremely high-beamed ceilings that has allowed plenty of space for a charming mezzanine/gallery. On the gallery, you will find a double bedroom. There is also a very large dining room with well-equipped kitchenette, double sofa bed and a bathroom with shower.
In an elevated position, La Ginestra is quiet and offers wide views over the surrounding countryside with woodlands inviting for relaxing walks. The villa is also ideally positioned for taking day trips to many places of cultural interest. Visit stunning San Gimignano only 11km away (10 minutes by car) or hop from one wine cellar to the other in the search of the best Chianti on the road to Castellina, Radda in Chianti to visit the splendid abbey of Badia Coltibuono.
To name just another few itineraries, stop for lunch in a Trattoria in the intact fortified village of Monteriggioni on your way to Siena (40 km - 35 minutes) or spend a day in the undiscovered gem of Volterra (30 minutes) known for its beautiful Palazzos as well as Etruscan ruins and the working of alabaster. The first local shop is 1km away or in the town of Poggibonsi (2 km). For other activities try the horseback riding school at walking distance or nearby tennis courts (5 minutes away).
